Brooklyn-based Rwandan songstress, Iyadede, breaks out with a video for “Darkest Hours (Take Deux).” The rad visuals were done in Rwanda against a backdrop of interlocking graffiti murals. This is Iyadede’s latest project since the release of the dream heavy track, F4L, in 2012. Maybe this is a sign that something magical might be dropping from “That Girl From Africa” in 2015.
Video Title: HOLY OXYGEN
The poster kid for the South African alternative hip hop scene, OkmalumKoolkat, released this electric wetness of a video for “Holy Oxygen,” a track off the solo EP of the same name. The video shows OkmalumKoolkat and others on the outskirts where people are receiving medical treatment. This is all too real as access to quality healthcare on the continent and around the world is a pressing issue. The rapper takes us through chilling scenarios of how the ill are neglected and not properly cared for during their time of sickness. Koolkat compares these experiences to his personal life, specifically being abandoned by his father.

Ghanaian indie artist, KluMOnsta, releases a new track called “Believe,” ahead of an album release scheduled for January 24, 2015. The Adenta rapper/producer/singer has been busy on the low for quite sometime working with rainmakers such as E.L, M.anifest, Wanlov the Kubolor, KO-JO Cue and Lyrical Wanzam, among many others. In this video, Klu breaks down how folks have doubted his ability all his life. He’s not paying anybody any mind, however, as he’s seen strolling along the Ay Mensa Highway, chilling with friends in the studio and performing live onstage. We’re definitely excited to see what Klu brings in the new year.
