Artists: FANTASMA featuring MOONCHILD

Video Title: SHANGRILA

South Africa’s supergroup, Fantasma, led by Spoek Mathambo shares the video for their latest joint, “Shangrila,” featuring Jo’burg-based electronic vocalist and fashion designer Moonchild. “Shangrila” is on the group’s  debut EP Eye Of The Sun released in 2014.

Fantasma is well, just that, consisting of some of South Africa’s best music makers and instrumentalists aka DJ Spoko (pioneer of ‘Bacardi House’), guitarist Andre Geldenhuys, drummer Michael Buchanan, and maskandi multi-instrumentalist Bhekisenzo Cele. The five man band fuses electro, South African house, hip-hop, traditional Zulu maskandi music and shangaan electro to create a unique and original hybrid sound. “Shangrila” doesn’t disappoint with loads of 80’s pop animation sure to keep you feeling full of life, color and bounce.

Video Title: BAYITI

Electronic Kologo musician, Stevoo Atambire (aka Kologo Jimi Hendrix), just released a live performance video for “Bayiti.” Wanlov the Kubolor shot and directed the video at Stevoo’s house in Namori in the Upper East Region of Ghana. “Bayiti” is a glow in the dark performance, showing flashes of Stevoo and his kologo as he performs. With a longstanding dumsor looming over Ghana each day and night and no clear end in sight, this video is right on time.

According to Akwaaba Music, Stevoo is currently in the studio working on a collaboration with Burkina Faso’s insightful hip hop MC, Art Melody. That’s music to our ears considering the ill set these two put on at December’s Sabolai Radio Music Festival.
