STELOO + YAW P Make a “Fashion Statement”

No doubt about it, STELOO x YAW P are pioneers in the Accra House movement. With the debut of the classic track, “Oi Mate,” in 2010, it was clear that Accra’s music history was moving boldly in a new and exciting direction. Since then, Steloo and Yaw P have grown their sound – together and independently – with steady practice in the studio, a weekly radio show, and live shows throughout the city.

The new joint, “Fashion Statement,” demonstrates this maturity, not only in production but also style. Oh, the style! Steloo, the self-proclaimed Fashion DJ, has built a following off his natty, vintage-twerked threads. No slacker to style himself, Yaw P possesses a clean, sharp and compelling vibe. This enhances the Ga-soaked, electric percussive magnetism of the record. The duo are equally inspiring in their music and fashion statements.

We are too amped to share the official music video for “Fashion Statement” on the site this Monday, 6th July. Produced by REDD Kat Pictures and ACCRA [dot] ALT, the video is directed by Mantse Aryeequaye with camera work by Abass Ismail. Attukwei Clottey and Labadi’s performance art collective, Go Lokal, also make a special appearance.
