Tune In To The Ghana Grown Sounds Of Yaw P

House Music made in Accra

Electro-House producer Yaw P is readying the release of a few more bangers after “So I Dey” got the attention of House music heads in Accra. Yaw P brings a gloriously rich vibe to the vibrant atmospherics, pioneering a new wave of Ghana grown sounds.

Between his Drone Scrap Program 2054 and making music videos, Yaw P is gradually building his art practice:

This is something I’ve been thinking of a lot. If we keep at this and continue to learn what we’re doing, House music in Ghana can grow from what we are now to something huge.
The visuals for “So I Dey”, albeit easygoing, also challenge stereotypes around Ghana’s hyper-christian society and the media’s limited depictions of Muslim citizens. Yaw sought to show a side of Muslim culture that most Ghanaians are unfamiliar with – a Muslim couple being affectionate publicly. Here’s to a happy Ramadan.
