What happens when an African and an Echo Chamber collide? Come see Accra Theatre Workshop’s annual play series An African Walks Into an Echo Chamber to find out.
The fourth edition of the short play festival will feature the experimental work of Nana Nyarko Boateng, Fiona Leonard, Nana Akosua Hanson, Hakeem Adam, Hasford Ato Kwamina, Debbie Onuoha, Brenda Bakomara, Yaba Armah, David Maja and Elisabeth Efua Sutherland for three days at Terra Alta, Abelempke (near Lucas College) and Nubuke Foundation (East Legon). An African Walks into an Echo Chamber investigates communication in the age of social media, dissecting the intricacies of understanding, or the lack of, and how that clogs up various communication channels. The experimental work, combining a variety of techniques will seek to probe what we read and experience both offline and online.
The short pieces for this year’s edition will also be guest directed by Eden Dotse Elsie Srodah and Kwame Boafo alongside Accra Theatre Workshop director Elisabeth Sutherland and features a talented cast including Yvonne Maura Appiah, Helel Smith, Hasford Ato Kwamina, Brenda Bakomara, and Ophelia Dzidzornu.
