3x GRAMMY nominated Ghanaian musician, Rocky Dawuni has dropped his single “Shade Tree ” which is the first of many off his forth coming album, which will be released in 2024.

The visual narrative for Rocky Dawuni’s new single “Shade Tree” is a layered one, drawing from the history of Bahia and its connections to the largest revolt of enslaved people in the Southern hemisphere and its cultural relevance to the times we find ourselves.
People with a common destiny intimately entwined with each, wide and deep in a twist of fate that may make some easily forget, but we are one as the music states.
The song comes from the heart of a lonely soul, seeking connection and community, which is found in various manifestations of regular life where people conjugate, jollificate, and most importantly, find connection. In this this time of geo-political shifts, this song is a reminder of our shared humanity.
“Shade Tree” which was written by Rocky Dawuni was directed by Brazilian Ema Ribeiro left no stones unturned in projecting the melangé of culture, lifestyle and the beautiful diversity of the people of Bahia; which scenes one might mistake for any where in Africa. The song was mixed by multiple Grammy Award winning engineer and producer, Qmilliion aka Keith Lewis, known for his work on the Robert Glasper “Black Radio” Albums, Seun Kuti among others.

Dawuni’s style remains one of protest with tenacious polyrhythms unique to him.
